I:"Can Organizer"
I got an idea from a soup can package to build your own canned food organizer.
1.Simply buy a Bulk Package or closed case save the cardboard container us as template
2. Omit top piece and extend the Lengths and widths and trace them on to plywood.
You can also use cardboard if you like but cut out the side pieces carefully so you get the half circle cutout as the side open in this will give you easy access to your canned goods. You can now place a piece of paper tape and label each container. NOTE: this will help you bug out faster than getting one can at a time especially if the element of surprise imposes itself on you. if you do not omit the top piece install a tool box handle so you can grab n go.
II: "Homemade Mason Jar Lanterns" burn time is 120+ hrs.(pint)
I will have pictures up this afternoon of those I made.
A.) Take a pint size mason jar and fill it 3/4 with beeswax add a med. wick tying the wick to a pencil so it remains vertical as the wax hardens but after 1 hr. take a pencil or dowel and make 3 relief holes at a 30 degree angle towards the wick 80 percent down the candle now with more beeswax fill the candle relief holes and add 1/4 inch of wax to top off. let candle harden. The candle part is now complete...B.) now take the metal ring and the flat part that meets the lid we need to fold 2 1'inch tabs vertical
on either side of the ring. so pick an area and make your first cut then measure 1 inch from your first cut and make a similar cut. Repeat this process just opposite your first cuts. then fold the tabs vertical.
place the vertical tab on a wood block and get an icepick and make a hole through this tab repeat process for both tabs.
Get about 12 inches of thick tie wire an make a U shape bend 2 2" piece upward on both ends of the wire. place through holes of the tabs you just pierced on the ring. your Done!
Now the other benefit to these lanterns when they burn out their not done fill the mason jar with 1/4 inch of salt or sand and place a beeswax votive candle you now have a lantern for another 13-15 hrs.
Another Note: adding 3 drops of citronella and lemongrass essential oils will make your lantern a natural bug repellent.
